Backcountry Adventure Camp for Australian Students

A snow-Filled learning experience

The Climbing Company is excited to offer a unique opportunity for students across Australia to explore the great outdoors and alpine terrains.

This special backcountry camp is designed to provide an unforgettable experience filled with adventure, education, and fun!

Activities?

– Snowshoe Hiking (Guide ratio: 1 to 14)  

  – Cross-country Ski(Guide ratio: 1 to 6)  

  – Backcountry Ski (Guide ratio: 1 to 6)

 

Where?

Victorian Heights, with various camping spots rotated throughout the winter season to ensure minimal environmental impact.

When

 July 27 to September 12 , Sunday to Friday

Booking condition

Minimum 12 max 20 (including teachers)- Minimum 3 days!

Included

  – All meals provided  ( Breakfast, Lunch box and Sandwich and Dinner )

  – Accommodation in cozy tents with high-quality mattresses  

  – Qualified guides and instructors 

– Safety kit for snow(Tranceiver, shovel, probe) 

Excluded:

  • Ski equipment (cross-country skis, poles, boots; or backcountry skis, skins, poles, and backcountry ski boots)
  • Day packs (approximately 35 to 60 Litres)
  • Sleeping bags with a comfort zone of -5°C ( We could assist for rental) 
  • Appropriate winter clothing
  • Extra camping boots

Itinerary:

Day 1:  

– Meeting Point:Mount Loch car park (After picking up rental equipment, guides will meet the group at Mount.Loch car park. We do briefing equipment check for the group. ( Students only need ski related equipment and a small pack with a sleeping bag ). Completing the required instruction about using the equipment and start to hike/XC ski/ Backcountry ski to the camp. ( Around 1 to 2 hours ). Check-in at the tents. 

-Activities: Snowshoe hiking, cross-country skiing, or backcountry skiing to the camp. 

Schools can choose either cross-country skiing or backcountry skiing as the main activity, with snowshoe hiking available for students who are not suited for skiing. 

– Evening: Having Lunch and a short tour. 

Days 2 to 5(Optional):  

– Explore the slopes with our qualified guides  

 Engage in snow survival and shelter skills, snow science studies, teamwork activities, and your chosen adventure (snowshoe hiking, cross-country skiing, or backcountry skiing)

Day 6: 

Morning Check-Out:Return to Mount Loch car park under the guidance of our experienced team. Sandwich and snacks provided for the way.

Estimated Equipment Rental Costs:

  • Safety Equipment: Transceiver, shovel, and probe are available for $125 per day; however, TCC will provide these items free of charge for school groups to enhance the students’ unique experience.
  • Ski Equipment Rental: Based on prices from Everest Shop (located in Bright), the costs for backcountry skiing equipment are outlined below. They may offer discounts for school groups.
